When I first heard of people blowing bubbles at a wedding, I thought they had all gone crazy. It sounds like something for a kids birthday party than a wedding party. My Mom and his Mom both thought that Wedding bubbles would really be great as wedding favors for all of our guests. We told them we would think about it, but the truth is we had already made up our minds. No Bubbles! So, we just went on with all the other things we had to plan for our ceremony and reception. Which, if you have ever planned a wedding before, you know what I’m talking about. There is so much to take care of, you could almost lose your mind.

There were times while making our plans and checking out things like caterers, bakeries, churches, reception halls and such, that we seriously started thinking about eloping. But that would really disappoint a lot of people, especially our Moms. They are looking so forward to this wedding, I just wish they’d forget this bubbles wedding thing. We don’t want to hurt their feelings, but , come on, it is our wedding. Isn’t it?

We managed to get quite a bit accomplished in the first two weeks of planning. The church is reserved, and the reception hall too. We got out the invitations and almost everyone has answered with a definite yes. Then I started shopping for the decorations, wedding favors and other accessories I would need. We took care of the gifts for our wedding party, including the flower girl and ring boy. We made sure we bought an extra gift for the maid of honor and the best man, because we felt they deserved it for standing up with us. We had everything together, and moved on to the reception. We had a gorgeous cake picked out with a whimsical wedding cake topper that we thought everyone would get a kick out of. Our table settings were all arranged with little place card holders for each and every guest and their decorative favor boxes with their thank you gifts in them, sat beside their place cards.

Although we had everything ready, and had bought the wedding favors, our Moms still insisted on turning our ceremony into a bubble wedding, in which we had to break their hearts and give them a definite hands down on that idea. We could tell they were a little disppointed that we didn’t care for their idea, and we were a little amazed that they both agreed on this bubble thing. I always thought in-laws were suppose to disagree on everything. Lucky us, we have moms that think alike.

Well, our wedding ceremony was really gorgeous and everything turned out like we had intended, but with one small change. As we were announced as Mr.and Mrs. and we made our traditional walk down the aisle, instead of rose petals being thrown at our feet as we had planned, we had bubbles coming at us from every direction. Apparently, our mothers had passed out little bottles of bubbles to everyone and instructed them to blow them at us as we walked down the aisle to the church doors.

As we sat in the limo wiping soapy water off our faces, we had to start laughing at this little stunt our moms had pulled. But after I got my photos back from the photographer, we were amazed at how beautiful the bubbles looked in the pictures. I even hung an 8x10 in my living room. I guess it’s true after all, Mothers do know best.
