Especially if you have friends or family that are forgetful and may miss that important wedding, birthday or shower they were invited to. Save the date cards or invitations are the perfect way to ensure that everyone on your guest list is able to attend. I didn’t even know about these cards until a friend of mine sent me one for her wedding and reception. I thought that was such a neat idea, so many people are forever losing things or forgetting to mark their calendar, or forgetting to check their calendar. I put my card right on our refrigerator door so I wouldn’t forget.
I thought it was such a good idea that I did the same thing for my son’s birthday party. I sent all the invitations out with a save date and time printed on them. I didn’t want to take any chances on anyone forgetting when his party was. My neighbor across the street was so impressed with them that she wanted to know where she could buy them. She’s a good one for forgetting dates. She almost missed her sister’s wedding. She had the dates mixed up and if it hadn’t been for her mother calling her to remind her, she would have shown up at the church a day late. So, I made sure she was the first one I mailed the card out to.
She said she wasn’t taking any chances of losing the card so she put save date magnets on it to hang on her fridge, just like I did with the wedding invitation.
When I was looking for the birthday save the date card, I ran across a couple of other very nice ones for weddings. One was quite lovely with a silver border and it was very romantic, and the other was a funny invitation with a bride and groom character on the front. I think I liked that one the best. I’m into all the whimsical stuff. I even like to get funny birthday cards instead of all that mushy, sugary sweetness so many people like.
Well, I did’nt forget the wedding and reception, we were there and I’m glad we didn’t miss it. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a blast. There was lots of great foods to choose from. They had a kind of buffet style, where you could get just about anything you wanted and the dessert table was covered with all these luciously delicious confections and pastries. I’ve never seen so much food at a reception.
The bride and groom made such a lovely couple and their dance together was almost magical, as was their ceremony. She chose a lovely wedding cake with the funniest cake topper of a bride hooking her groom with a fishing pole. Everyone got a real kick out of that. If I were to pick out a cake topper for me and my husband right now for an anniversary party it would probably be something like the happy couple fighting over the tv remote. Anyway, we had a great time at the reception and my husband and I danced so much I’ll have to soak my feet for a week. But it was great fun and we really enjoyed it. I’m so glad we were able to be there.
As for my friend across the street, she still managed to forget the birthday party for my son. She did get my card and she did get the magnets, but she didn’t remember to put it up on the refridgerator. So, she may need to find another solution to her forgetfulness.
